1 Year Old - November 21, 2013

WOW!!  Time sure does fly.  Our little man is one year old.  It has been a tiring, at times nervous, but nonetheless a wonderful year.  Things started out very uneasy and nerve wracking.  Grayson spent the first three months of his first year in the hospital.  We had no idea he had Down Syndrome until after he was born and we didn't find out he had Hirschsprung's disease until five days later.  We manage his disability and his disease but it doesn't define who he is.  He has endured three surgeries totaling close to 17 hours and countless trips to medical facilities.  Through it all, he has continued to fight like you can't imagine and has so much courage it is unbelievable. He has been on the right track for a while now and is a nice 19.5 lb now.

This little boy has a zest for life I wish I had.  He can light up a room and has a smile that makes everyone smile.  He has a great demeanor and is always so happy.  Our lives are so much different now and so rewarding.  I have learned so much from Grayson, you can't even imagine.  He has taught me more about life in one year than I have learned in all my previous years.

I am going to guide him and teach him things so he can thrive in this world and become a contributing member of society.  He will continue to teach me about patience, family, love, and what life is all about, and together we will do great things.

Happy 1st Birthday my little one.  Mommy and Daddy love you!
