Day 7 - Step in the right direction

Today was a better day. Grayson made some nice improvements.  They removed his feeding tube and  NG tube and started giving him Pedialyte (like baby Gatorade) by bottle throughout the day. Starting at 9:00 PM tonight, we started giving him some food for the first time in seven days. They will monitor his GI system and see how things move.  Now that Grayson doesn't have a colon, we have to be careful of "dumping". Which is too much output from his ostomy.  If his ostomy starts outputting a lot he will not get the nutrition needed and hydration.

Grayson's grammy and grampy just got into town tonight as well.  Unfortunately, they will have to go to the hospital to see him.

    What wonderful news! I love the pictures, especially the one on the right. Grayson is so sweet. Scott, I am so glad that your Mom and Dad can be there. Scott, Val, and Grayson, I will continue to keep you all in my prayers.

    I just re-found your blog, Scott and Val. Katie and I are so sorry to hear of Grayson's recent troubles but heartened to hear that he's rallying. Please let us know if there's anything at all that you need. -Keith
