We arrived home safely from another trip to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Grayson's procedure on Thursday and appointments on Friday all went very well. We won't have the biopsy results back until later next week, but the doctor mentioned things looked very good during the procedure. He said the inflammation in his small intestine has come down and he's fairly confident that Grayson doesn't have Crohn's disease. We were extremely happy to hear this as we don't need any additional hurdles at this point. His small intestines were so inflamed early on because he was extremely ill for the first three months of his life. He was significantly more sick than we ever knew. We started to realize how bad things were when he had x-rays taken and when we were driving home the doctor called and said, "turn around, go to the emergency room, there will be a team waiting for you there". So it is a great relief to hear his small intestine looks much better. We will get final confirmation that there aren't any other issues once the biopsy results come back, but right now it looks good.
All the staff at the hospital just loved Grayson because he is so good through all of it. He has such a great demeanor to him and is such a happy boy. We were able to go back into the OR with Grayson and meet the team and give Grayson kisses which was good.
When we met with the surgeon he was very happy at how well Grayson was doing and that he is gaining weight and growing well. So he doesn't have to have any immediate surgeries. If everything goes well, he won't have to have his next surgery for a couple years.
