We haven't posted in a couple days as it has been a bit crazy. Sorry for the delay in updating. Grayson has been progressing in the right direction. On Monday (1/14) Grayson had his NG tube removed and we began giving him pedialyte (baby water/gatorade) and yesterday (1/15) he was able to start on some formula. He was quite happy about that after not eating for another four days. He seems to be handling it quite well, although his intestines are not fully active yet. There is some activity when they listen, but not a lot. After major surgery your intestines kind of go dormant for a period. It could be a day or several days before they begin activity again, so we are still waiting for Grayson's to pick up. He is having some stool output, much of which is quite firm, as it has been impacted from last week. His belly is still quite distended or swollen which makes us a bit nervous.
Mommy and Daddy are sure learning the ins and outs of the hospital. Daddy had some fun yesterday with the hospital staff and getting them all fired up.
Grayson is getting really excited to see Grammy and Grampy today as they are coming to visit for several days. Hopefully he will be able to go home in the next day or two so grammy and grampy can enjoy some time at home with him.
Here is Grayson catching up on some zzzz's yesterday. Such a sweet boy. As always, we thank you so much for your continued thoughts and prayers.
