Turn for the Worst

Unfortunately Grayson was throwing up through the night and things got worse into the morning.  We brought him in for an x-ray in the morning and it showed he had a very distended loop in his intestine that was starting to push on his lungs.  The surgeon figured there was a blockage that needed to get fixed ASAP before further complications occurred.  After his x-ray, they had us immediately bring Grayson to the ER at the Children's hospital.  Shortly there after, they brought him in for surgery to examine all of his intestines to fix any possible problem areas.  There were a couple areas of adhesion (fibrous band connecting one part of the intestine to itself, similar to scar tissue) in the intestine.  There was also a very tight "S" shaped loop in the large intestine very close to the distal end, near his colostomy bag.  This section was cut out and the adhesion areas were separated.  The surgery took about 3 hours and Grayson is now in his recovery room.  He will probably remain in the hospital for several days to monitor his recovery and then get him starting on eating again and making sure he can pass his stool.
Poor little man has been through so much during his 7 weeks of life (4 weeks in hospital, 3 weeks at home).  Please just keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
